Cuicul -called now Djmila (Tamazight: amila, Arabic: , the Beautiful one, Latin: Cuicul or Curculum)- is a little mountain village in Algeria, heavy the northern coast east of Algiers, where some of the best preserved Berbero-Roman ruins in North Africa are found. It is situated in the region gone-door the Constantinois and Petite Kabylie (Basse Kabylie).
In 1982, Cuicul (Djmila) became a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its unique accommodation of Roman architecture to a mountain mood. Significant buildings in ancient Cuicul add together a theatre, two fora, temples, basilicas, arches, streets, and houses. The exceptionally nimbly preserved ruins surround the forum of the Harsh, a large paved square when an right to use marked by a majestic arch.
