Whenever we think of healthy meal options or diet food or well balanced meals, most of us tend to think of bland and boring food! Well, think again. This is not always true. Healthy and balanced meal can be as interesting as you want it to be. You might need to put some efforts into that well thought after meal, but is worth it in terms of nutritional value and taste! Yes, healthy food can be well planned and tasty.

The first and the most important aspect of creating a healthy and nutritional meal are to know and understand the ingredients. Healthy meal basically means high on proteins and low on carbs. So you might want to skip the white ingredients - white bread, pasta, rice, crackers etc. also avoid spreading that delicious jam on your toast because it has high sugar content and lot of carbs. Good nutrition is needed during breakfast time and jam definitely is not up in the list!

You can experiment a lot with salad and the best part is that salad goes well with any kind of meal, at any point during the day. Start by mixing raw vegetables, a good cheese, some fruits if you like and toss it with a great dressing like vinaigrette. Vinaigrette is low on carbs and great for taste. Creamy dressings should be avoided like ranch or ceaser.

Meats usually are good for health and high in protein. Include a white meat on regular basis for your entrée. Avoid too much red meat because along with high protein, it is high in carbs and fat also. White meat like turkey, fish and chicken are excellent sources of proteins and comparatively low on f\the fat content. Remember, avoid frying these meats otherwise the purpose is lost. Boil, broil, grill, stir fry etc. throw in some greens and a nice salad and give your family the healthy meal that they deserve.

Healthy eating habits will go a long way in keeping your family fit and happy. Of course, who does not like to indulge in a nice banana cream pie once in a while? But it should not become a daily occurrence. A well balanced meal has both physical and emotional effects on a person. Fat, grease and carb high diet will cause emotional disturbances in a person over a period of time. So give your family a nice tasty well balanced meal and keep them fit, young and happy!
